A very warm and colourful welcome to me and my work! I'm Howl, I'm a disabled autistic artist predominantly working with sound and video to create sensory experiences I visualise in my head and when listening both to existing music and the music I create myself. My main inspirations are my favourite musicians such as Radiohead, Alt-J and Brian Eno, as well as experimental forms of video making such as the now ever-so-popular analog horror subgenre found on Youtube, with notable examples being the Mandela Catalogue and the Walten Files.
I am currently studying at Bath Spa University for a BA in Fine Art! I'm actively involved in disability activism university-wide, running the Disabled Student's Network (DSN), as well as sitting on the board for the BSU Student Worker's Union (SWU). Not to mention the countless volunteering positions I regularly participate in both at university and within the SU. I also content create outside of my studies and creative practice as a disability activist, mostly on Instagram and Tiktok!
I currently work mostly from my bed as I have multiple debilitating chronic illnesses, and do most of my creating sat with my laptop and keyboard. Accessibility is an important thing for me, and creation in this format is part of doing that for myself! My emotional support cat (ESA) Morpheus loves sitting with me and trying to use my keyboard whilst I'm working, but he's a friendly furry face who provides company and support.
